Care & Maintenance

Outdoor furniture kept under shade areas such as pergolas or awnings will maximise the life of the product.
We recommend you cover the furniture if it is to be left outside in the elements if you do not have a shaded area when not in use.
Store in a cool dry place when not in use.
100% polyester does not promote mildew growth. If cushions are constantly kept wet or damp from rain mildew may grow on dirt and other substances if not kept cleaned.
We recommend you store the cushions in a dry safe place like a storage box when not in use.
Table glass is tempered so it is much stronger than normal glass however dropping items onto the glass or dragging the table could cause the glass to shatter into small pieces. We recommend that tables larger than 100cm should have two people move it to prolong the life of the glass.

Cleaning

Stainless steel frames should be maintained and cleaned using a stainless steel cleaner and a dry cloth to polish exposed areas.
Aluminium frames should be cleaned with warm soapy water and then rinsed.
Resin wicker can be cleaned with warm soapy water and then rinsed with cold water. It is not recommended that solvent cleaning products are used as they may discolour the rattan.
100% polyester fabric cushion covers can be machine washed at 30 degrees water temperature.
Brush dirt off cushions regularly when the fabric is dry.
Sponge cushions lightly with natural soap and luke warm water to remove stains.
For stubborn stains use fabric spot remover and follow instructions for use.
Tables and glass can be cleaned with a standard glass cleaner. Hot water must NOT be used on the table glass.
Non wood table tops surfaces should be cleaned using warm soapy water. Strong abrasive cleaners are not recommended as they could cause the product to discolour.

Tempered Glass Breakage

There is frequently a misconception that tempered glass is "unbreakable" or "nearly unbreakable". This is NOT true. Tempered glass is definitely breakable and many of the things that can break regular glass can also break tempered glass if not looked after carefully.
Fully tempered glass when broken fractures into hundreds of small particles. This is the design characteristic of tempered glass and is excellent proof of a well tempered product, not a defective product. It is this fail-safe characteristic of tempered glass that makes it an excellent product for applications such as outdoor table top usage.
Fully tempered glass will break into small fragments even for a very small initial fracture.
Another characteristic of tempered glass is that occasionally it not release immediately at the time of damage, but at sometime, perhaps many weeks later. This adds to the surprise and amazement of by-standers since no apparent cause is immediately evident. This type of behaviour is one of the factors leading to the so called "spontaneous or delayed breakage" of tempered glass.
Shipping, subsequent installation, handling and usage can all contribute to tempered glass breakage. Accidental or deliberate vandalism can also be another cause of unexplained breakage.
Since glass can be easily broken and mostly it is out of the manufacturers control, it is unreasonable and impractical for glass to be warranted against breakage and this is not covered under our warranty terms.

Billy Fresh Umbrella Warranty Conditions

A one year warranty is offered by Billy Fresh on the umbrella pole/framing, components and polyester canopy.
This warranty covers manufacturing defects only, inclusive of mechanical pole/framing components and polyester canopy integrity.
This warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by weather conditions (hail, storms, and wind), misuse or negligent care resulting in discolouration of fabric, unauthorised repair or any other accidents (fire).
Fabric discolouration over time is considered to be fair wear and tear and is therefore not covered under this warranty; protective UPF treatments have been applied to the polyester fabric to ensure a high level of colour protection.

Cleaning Teak Furniture

Regular cleaning of your teak will help prevent mildew build-up and potential discolouration. A quick wash with mild soap and water and some bleach or vinegar mixed in usually does the trick. Make sure to use a soft plastic brush as metal brushes can scratch and damage the wood's surface. Some harder to clean stains can be removed with a store-bought teak cleaner. When cleaning your teak, always start with the most mild cleaning solution. If that doesn't work, try something more concentrated.

Oiling Teak Furniture

Oiling teak furniture is not a method for protecting the wood but rather a way to retain and enhance the wood's natural golden colour. Some people prefer this look to the natural weathering of the wood when left untreated. Oiled teak furniture is best for indoor use as the environment is more stable. If you choose to oil furniture that will be outside you will need to be more regular with the maintenance, by oiling the furniture every 2 to 3 months and keeping the furniture out of direct sunlight.
Tung oil is preferred by most professionals for teak furniture but Linseed oil is also common. There are also specialised teak oils for purchase that use additives such as UV blockers and mildew retardants. Only oil teak furniture once it has been completely cleaned. Cleaning will remove any natural oils built up on the surface and applying a new coat of oil will restore the original character of the wood.
When applying teak oil use a paint brush to paint the oil into the wood in even strokes. A cloth dampened with mineral spirits should be used to wipe up any excess oil as you go. Oil that drips onto other surfaces such as painted wood or fiberglass should be wiped away immediately to avoid staining. The amount of oil required for each teak piece will differ. You should continue to paint on the oil until the wood no longer soaks it in, leaving oil pooled on the surface of the wood. At this point the wood should have a matte finish without any shiny spots.
Oil should be reapplied every 2 to 3 months. With each application the teak furniture should be washed and cleaned and fully dry before you begin.
Tip! When washing your teak furniture, start from the bottom and work your way up to to avoid leaving streak marks from any dripping water on the unwashed surfaces.
