Outdoor Armchairs

Our outdoor armchair range is built almost entirely around Nardi's resin and aluminium designs — the Net, Folio, Bora, Trill and Costa chairs — available individually or in sets of four or six for furnishing multiple settings at once. Each style is offered in several colourways, from White and Anthracite through to Agave Green and Tortora, so matching an existing outdoor setting is usually straightforward.

All are stackable resin or aluminium designs suited to both home patios and commercial venues that need chairs to store away between use. The Folio also comes as a reclining armchair for a more relaxed lounging option within the same resin construction.

Outdoor Armchairs - FAQs

  1. What materials are Nardi outdoor armchairs made from?
Our outdoor armchair range is mainly resin (Net, Trill, Costa) and resin-over-aluminium-frame construction (Folio, Bora). Resin doesn't rust, fade as quickly, or need re-oiling, making it a low-maintenance option for year-round outdoor use.
  2. How do I clean and maintain outdoor armchairs?
A wipe-down with mild soap and water is usually enough for resin and aluminium-framed armchairs. Avoid abrasive cleaners on the resin shell, and check any cushion covers (where fitted) for machine-wash or spot-clean instructions.
  3. Can outdoor armchairs stay outside all year round?
Yes — the Nardi resin and aluminium-frame armchairs in this range are designed for permanent outdoor use and are CATAS-tested to European EN 581 standards for outdoor stability and durability. A cover is still worth using in exposed coastal or harsh-weather locations to reduce long-term wear.
  4. Are outdoor armchairs comfortable without cushions?
The Net, Folio, Bora and Trill designs use a contoured resin seat shape intended to be comfortable without cushions, though some buyers add a seat pad for extra comfort during long meals. The Folio also comes in a reclining configuration for a more relaxed lounging position.
  5. Do outdoor armchairs come in different styles and designs?
Yes — Net, Folio, Bora, Trill and Costa each have a distinct shape, from the more rounded Net and Trill chairs to the firmer, more upright Folio and Bora, and the bistro-style Costa. Each comes in multiple colourways including White, Anthracite, Tortora and Agave Green.
  6. How do I protect outdoor armchairs from UV damage?
Nardi's resin is UV-stabilised for outdoor use, but positioning chairs out of constant direct summer sun and using a furniture cover during off-season storage will help colours stay truer for longer, particularly with darker shades like Anthracite.
  7. Are outdoor armchairs easy to assemble?
Most of the resin armchairs in this range arrive fully assembled or with minimal assembly (attaching legs in some cases). Set options like the Doga six-pack and Bora four-pack are packed per chair, so assembly time scales with the number of chairs ordered.

Choosing an Outdoor Armchair

The Nardi armchair range splits mainly by frame material and design details rather than by a huge spread of styles. The Net and Trill chairs are moulded resin designs with a slightly more contoured seat shape, while Folio and Bora use a resin shell over an aluminium frame for a slightly firmer, more upright seating position — worth comparing in person if seating comfort matters more than colour. The Costa chair sits closer to a traditional bistro-style armchair shape and is available individually or as a set of four.

All of these ranges are CATAS-tested to European EN 581 (outdoor seating stability and durability) and EN 15373 Level 3 (contract-grade, non-domestic seating) standards — the highest seating grade under that European testing regime, and a more internationally recognised benchmark than Australia's AFRDI standard. That makes the full range suitable for hospitality and commercial use as well as home patios, without needing to check certification chair by chair.

For buying in quantity, the set options (Doga in sets of six, Bora and Costa in sets of four) work out simpler than ordering single chairs individually if you're furnishing a café terrace or multiple outdoor settings, since colour and stock availability is confirmed as one order. Colour matching is also worth checking carefully: shades like Tortora and Agave Green are shared across several ranges but can read slightly differently between the more matte Bora/Costa finish and the glossier Net/Trill finish, so ordering a single sample chair before committing to a full set is a sensible approach if colour consistency matters to your setting.

If you're unsure which resin design suits your space, our team can talk you through the differences between the Net, Folio, Bora, Trill and Costa shapes before you order.
