Aluminium Outdoor Lounges

Aluminium outdoor lounges give you a frame that will not rust, will not rot and stays light enough to move on your own, which is the combination most Australian courtyards and balconies actually need.

The range is compact and each setting answers a different space:

  • Pebl Tolo, the aluminium sofa range. A single seat sofa chair with cushions, a three seat aluminium sofa, a three piece balcony set, and a three seat sofa paired with a coffee table.
  • Halston, a four piece setting combining rope and teak for a warmer, more textural look.
  • Siena, a lounge collection, and Onda, a curved modular lounge collection for a space where a straight run of seating does not suit the shape of the area.

Aluminium earns its keep in coastal conditions. Salt air is what kills steel framed outdoor furniture, and an aluminium frame simply does not have that failure mode. It also means you can move the whole setting to sweep underneath, which sounds minor until you have owned something too heavy to shift.

Cushions are the part that wears, not the frame. Store them out of the weather when the setting is not in use over winter and they will outlast several seasons of full exposure.

Melbourne and Sydney showrooms, delivery Australia wide.

Aluminium Outdoor Lounges - FAQs

  1. Why choose an aluminium outdoor lounge?
Aluminium does not rust, and it is light enough to move without two people, which is a real advantage for a lounge that gets rearranged or cleaned under. Powder coated aluminium holds its finish outdoors and carries no maintenance the way timber does. It is the frame material of choice when the furniture stays outside permanently, including near the coast.
  2. Do all the lounges in this range have aluminium frames?
The frames are aluminium, but several settings combine it with other materials and the product names reflect that. The Halston four piece setting is built on powder coated aluminium with a slatted teak tabletop and teak armrests, and Siena and Onda use powder coated aluminium with a timber look heat transfer print rather than solid teak. Read the product page if the material mix matters to you.
  3. What Pebl Tolo pieces are available and in what colours?
The Tolo comes as a single seat sofa chair, a three seat sofa, a three piece balcony set and a three seat sofa with a coffee table, in Charcoal and Mocha. The single seat is built on the same frame as the sofa, at the same 84cm frame height and 91cm depth, so the two sit together as a matched pair rather than looking like separate purchases.
  4. What is a curved modular lounge?
The Onda is a five piece curved lounge: two curved two seater sofa modules, a corner module and two nested ceramic topped coffee tables, seating five. The curve is the point, it turns a patio or poolside into a centrepiece rather than a row of seats against a wall. It suits an open space where the lounge is seen from all sides. A straight or corner layout is the better fit against walls.
  5. Do the lounges come with cushions?
The settings in this range come with their cushions. The Tolo single seat and three seat have seat and back cushions over foam plus a 50 x 50cm loose pillow, Siena uses deep 14cm cushions, and Onda is built around deep sink in cushions. The rope on the Tolo is hand woven 6mm olefin, chosen for weather resistance and colourfastness as well as how it feels against bare skin.
  6. Should I choose a balcony set or a full lounge collection?
Count the floor area first. The Tolo three piece balcony set is designed for a small space and still gives you two seats and a table. The Siena and Onda five piece collections need a genuine outdoor room to sit in, and they will feel cramped and look wrong if they are squeezed against a wall. A five piece in too small a space is the most common mistake in outdoor lounge buying.
  7. How do I look after aluminium and powder coated furniture?
Wash with warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse with fresh water. In a coastal or poolside position, rinse regularly, because salt and chlorine left sitting on a powder coat is what eventually marks it. Touch up any deep scratch that goes through to bare metal rather than leaving it. Let rope and cushions dry fully after rain, and cover the setting over a long unused period.
