Nardi Modular Partitions

Nardi modular partitions are freestanding outdoor screens in resin. They divide a space without building anything, which matters on a balcony you do not own, a terrace with a lease on it, or a courtyard where a fixed structure would need approval.

Three products are stocked:

  • Komodo EcoWall, the partition designed to sit with the Komodo modular lounge system, so a seating area can be enclosed on one or more sides in matching material and colour.
  • Sipario 2, the two panel screen, for a single line of division or a compact balcony.
  • Sipario 3, the three panel version, for a longer run or to turn a corner.

All three are made from the same resin Nardi uses across its outdoor furniture, so they are UV stable, will not rot or rust, and can be hosed down rather than treated.

The feature that makes these more than a screen is the integrated planter space. Rather than presenting a blank wall, the partitions hold plants directly, so the barrier softens as the planting fills in. A screen with herbs or trailing greenery in it reads as part of the garden rather than as something put there to block a view.

Two practical points. Because they are freestanding they can be repositioned, but that also means they are not a windbreak in an exposed position, so weight the planters if you are somewhere gusty. And plan for water: planted partitions need watering and will drain, so think about what is underneath before you place them on a finished timber deck.

Modular Partitions - FAQs

  1. What is an outdoor partition wall?
An outdoor partition wall is a free standing screen used to divide or shelter an outdoor space without building anything permanent. It breaks up a large courtyard, screens a boundary or a service area, and gives a dining or lounge setting a defined edge. The walls in this range are modular, so panels join together to make a run as long as the space needs.
  2. What is the difference between the Sipario 2 and the Sipario 3?
The number is the number of modules. The Sipario 2 is a two module lattice screen and the Sipario 3 is a three module version that stands over two metres, so it gives real privacy rather than just a suggestion of it. Both are free standing with a built in planter trough at the base, and both filter light and sightlines rather than blocking them completely.
  3. What colours are the Sipario partitions available in?
Basalto, Cactus, Gesso and Terra. These are the colours of Nardi's Regeneration line, which is moulded from regenerated fibreglass reinforced resin, so the tones are deliberately muted and earthy rather than bright. The colour runs right through the material rather than sitting on the surface as a coating.
  4. Do the partitions need to be fixed to the ground?
No. They are free standing, which is the main reason to choose them: nothing is drilled, no permit is involved, and you can move the screen as the garden or the layout changes. For an exposed or windy position, planting up the trough at the base adds useful weight and makes the screen more stable.
  5. Can I join panels together to make a longer run?
Yes. That is what modular means here. Panels join to make a run as long as the space needs, so you can screen a whole boundary or wrap a corner rather than being limited to one panel width. Work out the total length you want to cover first, then order the number of modules that gets you there.
  6. What is the Komodo EcoWall and how is it different?
The Komodo EcoWall is a screen made specifically for the Nardi Komodo lounge system. Instead of standing on its own, it clips directly to the Komodo modules to divide or enclose a lounge setting, and it stacks up to three modules high. It has the same built in planter trough and the same recycled fibreglass resin construction. Choose Sipario if you want a free standing screen anywhere in the garden, and the EcoWall if you already have Komodo.
  7. How do I clean and look after a resin partition?
Wash it down with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft brush, then rinse. The resin is UV treated and mass coloured, so it is made to live outside year round and it will not need painting or sealing. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent based cleaners, which will dull the surface texture. If you plant the trough, empty and clean it out occasionally so the drainage does not block.
