1. Has Instant Shade really supplied the Australian Open?
   Yes. Instant Shade has supplied the Australian Open since 2004, an ongoing supplier relationship that has run continuously for more than twenty years. The 2026 event used over 500 umbrellas across the Melbourne Park precinct, including 24 colour matched umbrellas at the ANZ Arena entrance. They also supply the Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington Racecourse each year, for brands including TAB and the Victoria Racing Club.
2. What is the difference between a cantilever and a centre pole umbrella?
   A cantilever carries its mast to one side, so the space underneath stays completely open. That matters when the umbrella sits over a dining setting, a daybed or the edge of a pool. A centre pole umbrella puts the mast through the middle, which is fine over a table with a parasol hole and awkward over anything else. Eclipse V4 and Aurora V2 are the cantilever ranges. Greenwich and Monterey are centre pole.
3. Which range is built for exposed and coastal positions?
   The Eclipse V4 is the heavy duty cantilever. The frame is extruded marine grade anodised aluminium and the 3m square weighs 44kg folded, which is what lets it work in genuinely exposed positions rather than sheltered courtyards. It is designed in Australia and carries Australian Design Application No. 202418675.
4. Can the canopy be turned to follow the sun?
   Yes on the Eclipse V4. An integrated rotation handle and lock turns the canopy through a full circle, with 24 locking positions, so one umbrella covers a seating area from morning through to late afternoon without being moved.
5. What sizes are available?
   Cantilever runs from the Aurora V2 at 2.8m square and 3.5m octagonal up to the Eclipse V4 at 3m square and 4m octagonal. Centre pole covers the Greenwich at 2m square, 3m square, 3.2m octagonal and 2.5m by 3.4m rectangular, plus the Monterey at 2.7m octagonal. The Nova LX giant telescopic range runs 3m square, 4m square, 5m square and 5m octagonal.
6. Do you have umbrellas that need no floor space for a base?
   Yes. The Paraflex range is wall mounted, in 1.9m square, 2.7m hexagonal and 3m hexagonal. It is the answer for a narrow balcony, a courtyard with no room for a base, or anywhere a base would be a trip hazard.
7. What is the largest umbrella you stock?
   The Nova LX giant telescopic range, up to 5m square and 5m octagonal. These are the sizes used for event and venue work where one umbrella has to cover a large seating area rather than a single table.
8. Are these suitable for a cafe, restaurant or hotel?
   Yes, and the Australian Open and Flemington work is the evidence. Twenty summers of open air tournament use in Melbourne is a harder test of a frame and a canopy than any specification sheet. For a venue the questions that matter are the base or fixing, the wind rating for that specific site, and whether the canopy can be branded. We can advise on all three.
9. Can the canopies be colour matched to our branding?
   Colour matched umbrellas were supplied for the 2026 Australian Open, 24 of them at the ANZ Arena entrance, and Instant Shade supply branded umbrellas for the Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington. 10. What base or fixing do I need?
    It depends on the range and the surface. A cantilever carries its load to one side and needs substantially more ballast or a fixed mounting than a centre pole umbrella of the same canopy size. Wall mounted Paraflex units need a sound structural wall. Tell us the position and the surface and we will specify it rather than leave you to guess.
11. Do you offer trade pricing on Instant Shade umbrellas?
