Rope Outdoor Dining Sets
Rope outdoor dining settings pair a woven rope chair with a hard wearing table top. The rope gives you the texture and give of a woven chair without the maintenance of natural cane, and the outdoor grade rope used on these chairs is made to sit in UV without going brittle.
Settings are grouped by how many people you need to seat:
- 3 piece, for a balcony or a small courtyard. Choose an HPL compact laminate table with Raya rope chairs in plain, Nordic Oak or Herringbone Calcatta finish, or a Bahza ceramic round table with Roma rope chairs.
- 5 piece, built on the Bahza 120cm ceramic round table with either Roma rope chairs or Pebl Tolo rope chairs.
- 7 piece, the Pebl Tolo ceramic setting, or the Halston teak table with rope chairs.
- 9 piece, the Pebl Tolo ceramic setting, or the Nardi Tevere 210 to 275cm extendable table with Aero rope armchairs.
The table top is where the settings genuinely differ. HPL compact laminate is the most forgiving surface outdoors and takes heat and scratching without complaint. Ceramic gives a stone look and a cooler surface in sun. Teak is the warmest of the three and the only one that asks for occasional oiling if you want to hold the colour rather than let it silver.
If your outdoor area doubles as everyday and entertaining space, the Tevere extendable in the 9 piece setting is the one to look at, because it is the only setting here that shrinks when you do not need the length.

What is rope outdoor furniture?
Rope furniture uses a woven synthetic cord, usually olefin, stretched over an aluminium frame, instead of a solid seat or a wicker weave. The look is relaxed and contemporary, and the practical advantage is that the weave breathes and drains, so it dries quickly after rain and does not hold water the way a padded seat does. The rope is chosen for weather resistance and colourfastness as well as the way it feels against bare skin.

Which rope chairs are in this range?
Sofia, Raya, Roma, Pebl Tolo and Nardi Aero. They are matched with different tables across the sets, so the same rope look is available at several price points and in several styles. Sit in a couple before you decide if you can, because the weave tension and the seat depth vary noticeably between them.

What rope colours are available?
Charcoal and Light Grey run through most of the sets, and the Raya chairs come in Taupe, Green and Charcoal. Neutrals dominate for a reason: rope is a large visual area in a setting, and a strong colour dates faster than the furniture wears out. Keeping the rope colour consistent is what makes a mixed layout look deliberate.

Four different surfaces. Bahza pairs rope chairs with a ceramic top, the HPL sets use a compact laminate top in plain, Nordic Oak and Herringbone Calcatta finishes, the Halston seven piece uses a teak table, and the Nardi Tevere is an extendable aluminium table. All four are low maintenance outdoors, so choose on the look rather than on upkeep.

What set sizes are available?
Three, four, five, seven and nine piece settings. The three piece sets, such as the Bahza with Sofia chairs or the HPL table with Raya chairs, are balcony and small courtyard sets. The seven and nine piece settings, such as the Pebl Tolo and the Nardi Tevere with Aero armchairs, are full dining settings. The piece count includes the table, so a three piece is a table and two chairs.

Does rope fade or stretch over time?
Good outdoor rope is made not to. The olefin cord used on these settings is chosen for colourfastness and weather resistance, so it holds its colour in the sun and holds its tension in the weave. What does shorten its life is grit worked into the weave and being left wet under a cover, so the maintenance is mostly about keeping it clean and dry.

How do I clean rope furniture?
Brush or vacuum out loose grit first, then wash with mild soap and warm water using a soft brush, working along the direction of the weave rather than across it. Rinse and let it dry fully. Do not use a pressure washer, which will loosen the weave. After wet weather let the rope and the cushions dry properly before putting a cover back on.
