Nardi Palma & Erica Chair Range
The Nardi Palma is a stackable resin armchair, made in Italy, and it is the chair to look at when you need arms without the bulk that usually comes with them. The arms are moulded into the frame rather than bolted on, so there is nothing to work loose and nothing to catch a hip when somebody stands up.
Measured, not estimated: 59cm wide, 56.5cm deep, 86cm high, with a 45.5cm seat height. That seat height is the number to check, because it is what decides whether the chair works with your table. Two colourways are currently available: white, and a two-tone white with tortora arms and legs. The two-tone is the one to pick if you have a hard white surface already and want the chairs to soften it rather than disappear into it.
Stackable matters more than it sounds. A venue that has to clear a courtyard for a function, or a household that wants the deck back in winter, needs chairs that go somewhere. Palma stacks, and because the resin is a single moulding it is light enough to carry two at a time.
Nardi resin is UV stabilised through the material rather than coated on the surface, which is why it does not need oiling, will not rust and can be hosed down. In full Australian sun a coated finish eventually chalks. A through-coloured resin fades far more slowly and never flakes.
One thing to check before ordering: the arms. An armchair takes up more width at the table than an armless one, so count your seats against the table length rather than assuming the same number fits. Six armchairs need more table than six side chairs.
