Tolo is the flagship collection from Pebl, the Belgian design studio, and the Tolo sofa is a Red Dot Award winner. Every piece is built on an aluminium frame with Tiger powder coating and hand woven in 6mm olefin rope. The sofas carry the patented Pebl flex system, so the backrest flips between regular seating, deep seating and a flat lounge with no tools.

What is the Pebl flex seating system?
It is a patented system on the Tolo sofas that lets one sofa work in three ways. Position one, regular seating, is upright and social. Position two, deep seating, flips the backrest over for a deeper more relaxed seat. Position three, lounge seating, has the cushions adjusted so you can stretch out. The change takes a simple flip of the backrest, with no tools and no extra parts to buy or store.

What is Tolo made from?
Aluminium frames with Tiger powder coating carry the structure, so nothing rusts and the finish holds up to UV and salt air. The sides and backs are hand woven in 6mm olefin rope, chosen for weather resistance, colourfastness and how it feels against bare skin. The dining and coffee tables are topped in ceramic, available in Sand B and Graphite.

Is Tolo suitable for commercial and hospitality use?
Yes. The aluminium and rope construction is built for daily use and the ceramic tops wipe down between covers, which is why Tolo works on a restaurant terrace as well as at home. The dining tables at 180cm and 240cm suit longer service tables, and trade and bulk pricing is available for venues and larger projects.

Are covers available for Tolo furniture?
Yes. Purpose made covers are available for the single and three seater sofas, the lounge chair and the nine piece dining set. They are 300D polyester with a PU coating and are waterproof. Fit a cover only once the furniture is clean and dry, otherwise you trap moisture against the rope.

How do I clean and look after Tolo?
Rinse the rope and the aluminium frame with fresh water, then wipe with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid solvents, bleach and abrasive pads. Ceramic tops wipe clean and need no sealing or oiling. In coastal areas rinse the frame more often to clear salt spray, and keep cushions dry when the furniture is not in use for long periods.

What size Tolo dining table do I need?
Tolo dining tables come in 180cm and 240cm. As a rule of thumb allow about 60cm of table edge per person, so the 180cm seats six comfortably and the 240cm seats eight. Also allow around 90cm of clear space behind each chair so people can get in and out without moving the table.

The Patented Flex Seating System
This is what separates Tolo from every other rope sofa. Pebl call it ultimate flexibility, and it works in three positions with a simple flip of the backrest and no tools required. Position one, regular seating, is upright and social. Position two, deep seating, flips the backrest over for a deeper more relaxed seat. Position three, lounge seating, has you stretched out for a slow afternoon. One sofa, three ways to sit in it, which matters when a space has to work for a dinner party and a Sunday afternoon.
Materials, Aluminium and Hand Woven Rope
Aluminium frames with Tiger powder coating. Aluminium does not rust and the powder coating protects the finish against UV and salt air, which is what you need on a coastal terrace or beside a pool. 6mm olefin rope is hand woven onto the frame, chosen for weather resistance, colourfastness and the way it feels against bare skin. Ceramic table tops in Sand B and Graphite handle heat, stains and UV without sealing or oiling. Purpose made 300D polyester covers with a PU coating are available for the sofas, lounge chair and the nine piece dining set.

The dining tables run to 180cm and 240cm, so Tolo scales from a family table to a long lunch.
