The Tolo in its sofa setting. Flip the patented backrest over in one motion and the same frame becomes a full daybed.

Most outdoor sofas do one thing. The Pebl Tolo does two. Its patented backrest flips over in a single motion, turning a 3-seater sofa into a full daybed in seconds, with no tools and no separate parts. It is a Red Dot Award-winning, Belgian-designed piece, and it sits among the more versatile options in our outdoor lounge settings. This is what it does, how it holds up outdoors, and why buying it from us works out better.

No. 01

The flex system: sofa or daybed from one frame

The patented flip backrest is the reason the Tolo exists. The backrest pivots over the seat in one smooth motion, so the same frame switches between two setups without any parts to add or remove. No tools, no lifting a separate piece into place.

  • Sofa. Backrest upright for relaxed three-seat lounging, the way you use it most of the time.
  • Daybed. Flip the backrest over in a single motion and the whole thing opens into a full-length daybed for an afternoon in the sun.

For a single piece that has to earn its footprint, especially on a patio or deck where you are not fitting a sofa and a separate sun lounge, that flexibility is the point. One flip covers both jobs.

Same frame, two modes. The backrests fold without tools, so switching takes seconds.

How it holds up in Australian conditions

A convertible sofa is only worth it if the materials survive being left outside. The Tolo is built for that, not styled to look like it.

  • Powder-coated aluminium frame. Rust-proof and light enough to move for cleaning or repositioning. The frame material that handles rain and coastal salt air where steel corrodes.
  • 6mm Olefin rope. Woven through the frame, Olefin resists UV fading and moisture far better than natural fibre, so it does not go brittle or grey in full sun.
  • Quick-dry cushions. The foam is designed to drain and dry, so a downpour or a splash from the pool does not leave you with soggy seating for days.

This is where cheaper convertible sofas typically fall down. The mechanism might work in the showroom, but the fabric fades and the frame corrodes within a couple of summers. The Tolo is made to keep doing both jobs at year five, not just year one.

Finishes, dimensions and what is included

The Tolo comes in two finishes, both built around neutral, tactile tones that sit well against timber, stone or render.

  • Charcoal frame. Upholstered in Taupe Sunproof Jalousie, with two graphite accent pillows and two granite pillows in a stone-inspired weave.
  • Mocha frame. Upholstered in Taupe Sandstone Olefin, with two clay accent pillows and two chocolate pillows for a warmer, grounded palette.

Both configurations include four loose pillows, two at 60 by 60cm and two at 50 by 50cm. The sofa measures 236cm wide by 126cm deep by 72cm high, so plan for a generous three-seater footprint rather than an apartment-balcony piece. If you want to build out the setting, the matching single-seat chair and lounge set in the Pebl Tolo lounge range use the same frame and finishes.

“A sofa that flips into a daybed in one motion. The value is in the versatility, and in not waiting weeks to get it.”

Why buying the Tolo here works out better

The Tolo is sold by a handful of retailers. The sofa is the same. What differs is the price, the wait, and the warranty behind it. Because we import direct, we hold stock and price it sharper, which changes the buying experience in three concrete ways.

  • In stock now, not on backorder. Ours ships from our Australian warehouse in 2 to 5 business days. Elsewhere the same sofa is often made to order, with waits that stretch out to several weeks or longer.
  • Sharper price. At $3,999 it is priced below what the same sofa is commonly listed for elsewhere. Direct importer pricing, not a markup on top of a distributor.
  • Longer warranty. We back the Tolo with a 2-year warranty, double the 12 months you will typically find on the same piece from other sellers.

Same sofa, better terms. If you have already decided the Tolo is the one, that is the case for buying it here.
