The Pebl Sand Outdoor Rug is a flat woven outdoor rug in a soft sand colourway, made to sit under a lounge or dining setting on a deck, a terrace or a paved courtyard. It comes in four sizes, two round and two rectangular, so it can be matched to the shape of the setting rather than the other way round.
It is woven from outdoor Textilene rather than wool or cotton, and that is the whole point of it. Water drains straight through instead of soaking in, so it will not hold damp against timber decking or grow mould in a shaded courtyard, and it dries in hours rather than days. The yarn is UV stabilised, so a full Australian summer will not bleach the colour out of it.
Underfoot it takes the heat out of paving in the middle of summer and softens the noise that bounces off tiles and rendered walls. Sand is deliberately quiet as a colour, so it sits under almost any furniture without competing with it.
A note on sizing: the usual mistake is going too small. Under a lounge setting the rug should reach beneath the front legs of every seat rather than floating in the middle, and under a dining table it needs to be wide enough that chairs stay on it when they are pulled out.
